This was a ground-breaking song for us and had been in the repertoire for a few years by the time of this recording. Banjo had been Boo's first instrument as a child and this piece represented a mile marker in deepening the mark of his unique abilities on the Illtet sound. Could this be the first example of live Banjo used in a hip-hop song?
The vocal scream sample was the result of experimenting with the Akai S-1000 sampler's time stretching and sample combining features. It morphs between an extremely time-stretched sample of our childhood friend Nazz (a philosopher) into a reversed sample of a Parliament Funkadelic vocal. You can also hear the unique banshee sound of a Diamanda Galas sample in the arsenal Claudio is working with.
The bass guitar was tuned down almost to the point of being non-tonal. In the lyrics, Zef openly explores mystical interests, celebrating Death and the veils of the dark goddess Kali, and in a Euro-Christian sense refers to a "deal" that ends with the death of the body.
